A Message To Confederaphobes

I have for years seen the ridiculous bumper stickers and heard the popular slogan "You Lost Get Over It" by people who for one reason or another dislike Southern American people.

I admit some of it stems from past misuses of popular Southern symbols like the Confederate battle flag by unworthy racist individuals, and by people with misguided political agendas.

However, in light of the fact that decent descendants of Confederate soldiers have been fighting for nearly two decades for the right to display the Southern Cross banner, and actively fight agaisnt hate groups who continue to misuse that flag against people based on skin color or national origin, the flag can no longer be simply considered a racist banner.

Even so, people continue to attack the Southern people, for the most part due to personal fears and prejudice that people can take such honor in remembering their ancestors in a proper, respectful way that cannot in any rational mind be misconstrued as bigoted.
Much of this Confederaphobia can be summed up with ignorant statements like: "Don't you know its the 21st Century?" or "The South Lost, Get Over It."

Now being both a Southerner (from South Carolina born and bred) and a descendant of a Confederate soldier who gave his life in defense of his farm and the wife and four children he never returned home to, let me just say that I know full well its 2010 and that the South lost the War Between the States (or the American Civil War as it is called).
However, that does not mean I should be made to be ashamed to put a Southern Cross banner on the grave of my ancestor or any other Southern soldier buried in an Unknown Grave somewhere on Southern soil. It also does not mean that I should be ashamed to display that flag on my own property or person if I choose.
I hate nobody and I would never fly that flag for racist reasons, and I condemn all who do so in the strongest possible way. When you dirty that flag, you disgrace the memory of my ancestor and dirty the name Southerner.

Okay having ranted enough, let me make it plain to all the haters out there who continue to say crap to Southerners for honoring their ancestors and remembering their sacrifices...and I do that with this artwork.
